Defining Indicators and Evaluation Parameters of the State’s Military-Economic Potential

Abstract

Purpose: Developing a unified approach to establishing an indicator system and calculating an integrated index of a state's military-economic potential, with subsequent practical application for forecasting national security.

Method: The study employs indicator-based analysis, fuzzy set theory, discriminant analysis, scalarization, expert evaluation, and construction of an integral index.

Findings: An algorithm for assessing the military-economic potential is developed, including the construction of an indicator system, normalization, weighting, setting threshold values, and calculating an integral indicator for analysis and forecasting.

Theoretical implications: The research expands the methodological tools for evaluating military-economic potential and proposes a unified approach to indicator selection and criteria development.

Practical implications: The findings can be applied in shaping national security policy, assessing threat levels, and designing crisis response measures at the state level.

Future research: Future work will include adapting the model for various states and incorporating artificial intelligence tools for automated data analysis.
