Formation of Terms in the Military Terminological Lexicon under the Influence of Artificial Intelligence

Abstract

Purpose. To identify the formation patterns, structural-semantic characteristics, and functional roles of new lexical units emerging in military terminology under the influence of artificial intelligence

Method: The study employed descriptive, structural-semantic, and comparative analyses to investigate the terms formed under the influence of artificial intelligence.

Theoretical implications. The theoretical findings indicate that the application of artificial intelligence technologies accelerates the process of the emergence of new terms in military terminology. In the context of artificial intelligence, terms related to the military sphere are formed through various structural-semantic methods and contribute to the terminologization of existing linguistic units. This process influences the integration of the military terminological system with other fields of science, as well as with the international terminological fund, and contributes to its overall enrichment.

Practical implications. The continuous and systematic use of terms formed under the influence of artificial intelligence contributes to the enrichment of military terminology with national and international linguistic units, as well as to the development of cross-linguistic relations. This process provides a favorable foundation for the emergence of new terms and the expansion of term-formation mechanisms. Artificial intelligence and AI-generated terms play a significant role in the compilation of terminological dictionaries. Terms formed under the influence of artificial intelligence systems also contribute to the optimization of translation and professional communication processes.

Value. This article identifies the theoretical and practical foundations of the AI-driven transformation of military terminology and presents scholarly approaches to the process of term formation. Furthermore, it analyzes the theoretical basis of the integration of military science, linguistics, and modern technologies, thereby demonstrating the scientific and practical significance of this field.
